I spoke with the founder of a company that hires Chief Executive Assistants. It is the virtual assistant upgraded. These are roles that can run a business. The company serves as a matching service for companies. Start-ups with an 18-month runway are a good fit. The company was recently name official VA company of the Dept. of Defense. Inspired by Jessica McGlory, who in 2019 posted on LinkedIn about opening her calendar in a similar way to help others, Kate Huyett (Chief Marketing Officer, Bombas) & Tyler Pietri (Product Manager, Klaviyo), Co-Founders decided in June 2020 to create a network of professionals (1000 and growing) who were committed to creating access for Black individuals in the startup and marketing space. They also added a jobs tab of companies that are confirmed to be currently hiring to make sure those opportunities are visible to Black individuals.
OneTen’s mission is to hire, promote and advance one million Black individuals who do not have a four-year degree into family-sustaining careers over the next ten years. We take a skills-first approach, focusing on competencies, in an aim to close the opportunity gap and ignite potential for generations to come.
